I saw this documentary on Netflix and all over TikTok and thought I had to watch it. The British true crime documentary is from director, Felicity Morris and was released on Netflix on February 2, 2022. The Tinder Swindler follows three women from Europe who met a man named Simon Leviev via the dating app Tinder. Each woman took out loans, credit cards, and saving accounts to give Simon because he was allegedly in trouble and being hunted by his enemies. However, before this he would take the women on lavish trips all over the world. After several trips and messages he would send pictures of his body guard being beat up and him being threatened. Without giving away too much, ultimately it was all a scam. These women are now in severe debt and their swindler faced almost no time and has not paid them back. I would highly recommend watching this and learning from their mistakes. I urge every one to be careful who they meet online and who they are willing to give money to. One of the scams he used was to have a card in the woman’s name but he was allowed to use it. Please be aware of these scams and what you can do to prevent yourself or friends from falling victim to other swindlers. These women Googled Simon and his story, on face value, checked out. Only through deeper digging was the scam brought to journalists and local authorities.
